8U Program

The 8U program is specifically developed to introduce soccer to children in a fun and safe environment, while allowing them to continue to expand their skills. The program is setup to have a short practice once or twice a week at a local park or school, followed by a Saturday game. There is no post season at this age level; however, each player receives a participation trophy at the end of the season.

Item	Description
Season Length	The season runs from September until the middle of November
Time Commitment	1-2 weekly 60-minute practices (depending on coach's schedule) and weekly Saturday games lasting approximately 55 minutes.
Equipment	Each player will be given a uniform which consists of a jersey, shorts and socks. * Players must provide soccer cleats, shin guards and a Size 3 soccer ball.
Volunteer Requirements	All volunteers must be registered AYSO Volunteers. All coaches must also be Safe Haven Certified. which includes Safe Sport, CDC Concussion Awareness, and Cardiac Arrest Awareness. * AYSO provides all training.
Coach Certification	8U Coach
Game Format	The game is played on a small field in a 6 v 6 format with no goalkeeper Two 25-minute halves, with a quarter break halfway through each half. Substitutions are done at each quarter break. Each player is required to play at least 75% of each game (3 of 4 quarters).
Team Formation	The teams are formed with the intent of allowing the children to play with their friends and other children from their school. There is a maximum of eight players per team roster. Please place special requests on the registration form. We try very hard to meet all requests.
